We're SO excited to have a more traditional, in-person Salamander Stride this year, with some modifications to keep the event safe and fun for everyone. Lace up your Striding shoes and get ready for the fun on Friday, October 22 at the SSIMS track!

Sligo Creek ES and Silver Spring International MS are lucky to have a large Outdoor Classroom, located in the interior courtyard of the shared building. After the long pandemic closure, it needs our attention! We look forward to students being able to use this outdoor space as much as possible.

• Scissors - blunt tip

• Glue sticks - 8 pack

• Crayola markers

• Black dry erase markers (Expo)

• Headphones for computer

• 1 Primary composition notebook (blank on top, lined on bottom)

• 1 regular composition notebook

Classroom Donations:

• Clorox wipes

• Kleenex

• Hand sanitizer

• Pump soap

• Ziploc bags (gallon, quart, or sandwich size)

2. Assist your student(s) with their summer reading: English Summer Reading Log | French Summer Reading Log | K-2 English BINGO | K-2 French BINGO | 3-5 English BINGO | 3-5 French BINGO

3. Replenish your student's face mask supply. Face masks will be required in MCPS buildings for the 2021-2022 school year, regardless of vaccination status. It helps to put a few extra masks in backpacks in case the one your child wears to school gets wet or dirty throughout the day. Order soon! Some manufacturers are delayed in shipping or low in inventory.

The Headlines

As of today (July 30, 2021), MCPS will not be conducting COVID testing in any schools for either staff or students.
As of today, there is no requirement for a COVID vaccination for staff or students. It is also not allowed to ask the vaccination status of staff or students.
As of today, MCPS has removed all COVID protocols (capacity, distancing, hallway movement, bus capacity, etc.) EXCEPT for mask-wearing while indoors.
As of today, MCPS has not shared any COVID quarantine protocols or exposure rules. The Department of Health and Human Services will provide these. If a school is made aware of a positive COVID test through either self-reporting or Montgomery County contact tracing, a message will be shared with the school if needed.

Do you love throwing a party? We have immediate openings for committee members to help our Vice President of Events, Jennifer Meyer, plan the Welcome Back Social, scheduled for September 10 (date to be confirmed by SCES) on the school playground. This is an outdoor event for our entire school and the first chance we've had in a year and a half to come together as a community! Be a part of the excitement.
