The PTA Needs You!

Many PTA Board positions are open for next year. Executive board positions have term limits, so new members are needed for our robust SCES PTA to continue. You don’t have to do it all, and there are plenty of returning members to guide you, and the outgoing volunteers are usually available to support your transition into the role as well!

The PTA organizes the in-house Salamander Stride as our one fundraiser a year, keeping 100% of the profits!

Indoor recess games, outside soccer balls, affordable field trips, room parent coordination, T-shirts, safety signage, after-school activities, teacher appreciation, student advocacy, representation in the wider MCCPTA community…all happen because Sligo Creek has a PTA!

Find an official list of duties here. We will vote in new officers (President, Executive VP, Secretary, Treasurer, VP Events, and any co-VPs) in our May and June PTA meetings.

Salamander Stride 2020 is Coming!

The Salamander Stride is right around the corner. For those of you new to Sligo Creek ES, The Stride is our largest, most important fundraiser of the year. It is typically a fun afternoon spent on our track running laps for pledges, but as we all know this year is a little different! This year's 'Stride will be a VIRTUAL EVENT held the week of November 9-13th.

MCPS has determined that the safest choice for the school district is to remain in a virtual-only instructional model for the first semester and for the foreseeable future.

Governor Larry Hogan and State Superintendent Dr. Karen Salmon announced today (March 12) that all Maryland schools must close in response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. In light of this announcement, all MCPS schools will be closed starting March 16 until March 27. Additional information will be provided to the community shortly.
