The PTA Needs You!
Many PTA Board positions are open for next year. Executive board positions have term limits, so new members are needed for our robust SCES PTA to continue. You don’t have to do it all, and there are plenty of returning members to guide you, and the outgoing volunteers are usually available to support your transition into the role as well!
The PTA organizes events:
- Welcome Back Social
- Scholastic Book Fair
- Poetry Night
- Math Night
- GeoBowl
- World Culture Day
- STEAM Fair
- Book Share
The PTA organizes the in-house Salamander Stride as our one fundraiser a year, keeping 100% of the profits!
Indoor recess games, outside soccer balls, affordable field trips, room parent coordination, T-shirts, safety signage, after-school activities, teacher appreciation, student advocacy, representation in the wider MCCPTA community…all happen because Sligo Creek has a PTA!

With school starting soon we will need lots of volunteers. Here is a list of some of the positions/events/projects that need volunteers. We encourage you to share the load with another parent and volunteer to be co-board members, co-chairs or co-organizers.

BOARD POSITIONS
Executive Vice President
Assists the President as needed. The main function is to ensure succession planning for the position of President. Ideally this person will run for President in the next possible election, but doing so is not required. This is my last year as president it will be much easier for next year's president(s) if they are a part of the board this year and can get an idea of how things work.
VP of Communications
Responsibilities include updating the website, flyers, Listserv/Facebook moderation and newsletter coordination. Most of these duties can be done from home in the evening or weekend.
VP of Events and Fundraising
Organizes, oversees, promotes, and troubleshoots PTA events and fundraising efforts.
Room parent coordinators
Membership coordinators
School sign updaters - monthly
PTA bulletin board updaters- monthly
We are also looking for help for events/activities coming up soon.
Giving Tree Organizers - need to put up tree next week and coordinate the teacher requests.
Welcome Back Social Organizers - tentatively planned for the week of Sept 16th. The date is flexible but the event will not be held if we don't have an organizer.
