Recess/Wellness Committee

The Recess/Wellness Committee works on improving programs and policies related to physical activity, nutrition, and mental health.

In 2019, two years of hard work and advocacy paid off with the dedication of a new recess field for Sligo Creek Elementary School. The process began in 2017 thanks to the organizing savvy of PTA parent Lisa Seigel. At the March 9, 2017 county council session, PTA parents – including Sligo Creek PTA parent, Chris Richardson – occupied all eight microphones. Unanimous support from council led to the renovation of the outdoor playspaces at five – now six – elementary schools in the downcounty area.
