Please join us as we bid “adieu” to Ms. Diantha Swift, who has proudly served as principal at Sligo Creek for the past 15 years. Principal Swift will be retiring on June 30 after 25 years of service at MCPS.

We had a very busy week with the PTA Book Share and Staff Appreciation Events. We will finish up with the Salamander Stride on Friday.

Thank you to the many, many volunteers who have donated time and money to make these wonderful events happen.

MCPS will hold a meeting on April 30th to discuss the impact construction of the new SSIMS addition will have on SCES operations. This meeting will take the place of the Town Hall originally proposed by the SCES PTA.

Please donate books your children have outgrown to the SCES PTA Book Share. Every SCES student will get to take one book home to keep as their own.

SCES PTA is joining the national celebration of Screen-Free Week - April 29 – May 5, the annual celebration where children, families, schools, and communities around the world swap digital entertainment for the joys of life beyond the screen.

The PTA has organized a great presentation on Saturday March 2 9-12 in the SCES Media Center. A pair of topics we are sure we can all benefit from will be covered by 2 gifted and experienced PEP speakers on discipline and screen time.

Instead of a general PTA meeting this week, we will have a planning meeting for the Salamander Stride fundraiser. The Stride is scheduled for May 17, 2019.
