The PTA Needs You!
Many PTA Board positions are open for next year. Executive board positions have term limits, so new members are needed for our robust SCES PTA to continue. You don’t have to do it all, and there are plenty of returning members to guide you, and the outgoing volunteers are usually available to support your transition into the role as well!
The PTA organizes events:
- Welcome Back Social
- Scholastic Book Fair
- Poetry Night
- Math Night
- GeoBowl
- World Culture Day
- STEAM Fair
- Book Share
The PTA organizes the in-house Salamander Stride as our one fundraiser a year, keeping 100% of the profits!
Indoor recess games, outside soccer balls, affordable field trips, room parent coordination, T-shirts, safety signage, after-school activities, teacher appreciation, student advocacy, representation in the wider MCCPTA community…all happen because Sligo Creek has a PTA!
Find an official list of duties here. We will vote in new officers (President, Executive VP, Secretary, Treasurer, VP Events, and any co-VPs) in our May and June PTA meetings.

World Culture Day Poster Prize Winners

Thank you to all the 4th and 5th grade students who participated in the World Culture Day poster competition.
There were 41 posters submitted reflecting the many countries, cultural traditions, foods, landmarks, geographic diversity, family traditions, beliefs, languages, school spirit, and more of our student body that enriches the SCES community.
There were so many creative entries that we couldn't choose only one winner per grade-our students are SO talented. So, we are thrilled to announce the top 2 winners in each grade. The 4 winning posters will be prominently displayed on Friday for the World Culture Day celebration. All other entries will be displayed around the school beginning today and for the entire week.
The winners are:
4th grade
Alijah Staley from Ms. Ford's class and Charlotte and Josie who submitted a joint entry, from Mme. Raze's class.
5th grade
Mai Lan Bui from Mme. Panatier's class and a team of 3, Leila Kittell, Elizabeth Browne, and Hannah Bruk, from Ms. June's class.
