The PTA Needs You!
Many PTA Board positions are open for next year. Executive board positions have term limits, so new members are needed for our robust SCES PTA to continue. You don’t have to do it all, and there are plenty of returning members to guide you, and the outgoing volunteers are usually available to support your transition into the role as well!
The PTA organizes events:
- Welcome Back Social
- Scholastic Book Fair
- Poetry Night
- Math Night
- GeoBowl
- World Culture Day
- STEAM Fair
- Book Share
The PTA organizes the in-house Salamander Stride as our one fundraiser a year, keeping 100% of the profits!
Indoor recess games, outside soccer balls, affordable field trips, room parent coordination, T-shirts, safety signage, after-school activities, teacher appreciation, student advocacy, representation in the wider MCCPTA community…all happen because Sligo Creek has a PTA!

We have some ideas for showing our amazing Sligo Creek Elementary School community lots of love for Staff Appreciation Week, May 2 - May 6.
MONDAY, MAY 2
No school today! Let’s get artsy.
Meet at SCES around 5 PM to chalk "thank you" messages and pictures for staff to see when they get to school on Tuesday. Bring your chalk if you have some; otherwise, we'll have some extra on hand to share.
TUESDAY, MAY 3
We donut know what we’d do without you!
Donuts will be served in the staff lounge.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 4
Donate flowers from your yard or purchase blooms for the occasion!
"Bring a flower" day during Staff Appreciation Week is a long-standing SCES tradition. If you have something pretty blooming in your yard next week, feel free to cut a few stems and send them in. The handmade/homegrown aspect of the bouquets is definitely part of the charm.

Dust off those handwriting skills!
Students, write a note to a staff member who means a lot to you, or draw them a picture showing what you appreciate about them. Don't forget your specials teachers and support staff! A staff list is available on our website: https://www2.
