
The PTA Needs You!
Many PTA Board positions are open for next year. Executive board positions have term limits, so new members are needed for our robust SCES PTA to continue. You don’t have to do it all, and there are plenty of returning members to guide you, and the outgoing volunteers are usually available to support your transition into the role as well!
The PTA organizes events:
- Welcome Back Social
- Scholastic Book Fair
- Poetry Night
- Math Night
- GeoBowl
- World Culture Day
- STEAM Fair
- Book Share
The PTA organizes the in-house Salamander Stride as our one fundraiser a year, keeping 100% of the profits!
Indoor recess games, outside soccer balls, affordable field trips, room parent coordination, T-shirts, safety signage, after-school activities, teacher appreciation, student advocacy, representation in the wider MCCPTA community…all happen because Sligo Creek has a PTA!

It's Time for the Salamander Stride!

What is the Salamander Stride?
The Salamander Stride is a non-competitive Fun Run that encourages physical activity and celebrates our students. It is a volunteer-planned community event where parents, guardians, and family members join staff to cheer our students on.
Every student who is able to stride, roll, walk, or run participates in the way they are able, and every dollar raised goes to fund the support and enrichment of staff and students at Sligo Creek Elementary School.
The Salamander Stride is the PTA’s single fundraiser to cover all of the academic programs, social events, playground equipment, school supplies, scholarships, and staff appreciation efforts we provide throughout the year.
How can you support this community event?
You can make a pledge yourself and ask family and friends to donate as they're able.
Set up a pledge page or make a donation through the PTA website!
Follow these steps:
1) Once you're on the PTA website (scespta.org) login to or create your account. If you are logging into or registering an account for the first time, or visiting for the first time in awhile, make sure to update your student's grade so their donations go to the proper grade level's tally.
2) Once you're logged in, click on "My Account." From there you will scroll down to "Fundraising Campaigns" where your student(s) page(s) is linked
3) Feel free to personalize their fundraising page if you'd like
4) Make a donation online and send their page(s) to friends and family to ask for support!
You can also record cash/check donations made out to SCES PTA.
You can also ask local organizations to sponsor the Salamander Stride for a donation of $250. Sponsors go a long way toward helping us meet our fundraising goals.
