MCPS-MCCPTA Mental Health and Wellness Forum - January 12

12/20/2018 9:43 am

Last year we organized the first MCPS-MCCPTA Mental Health and Wellness Forum on April 22, 2018. This school year, rather than compete with the sun on a glorious spring day, we have brought our annual event to the winter, specifically to Saturday, January 12, 1-5 pm at Wood Middle School, 14615 Bauer Drive, Rockville, MD 20853.

As you know, the impact of mental health and wellness challenges is not limited to select families. Not acknowledging and addressing the challenges impairs learning now and life prospects later. Not talking about them stigmatizes the conditions and becomes a source of stress itself. Mental health challenges from undue stress to more significant conditions pose risks to the general well-being of our families.

We know you too believe it is important. We just need to articulate why. All families, secondary students, elementary students (with guardians), teachers, staff, administrators, and community members are welcome. I hope you will be able to attend and encourage staff, students, and families to attend.

The online registration form is available at: https://goo.gl/forms/wNYelcS2SEJcs1MB3.

We will offer free Mental Health First Aid Training (for adults only) which will run concurrently with the conference. CEUs available. To join the MHFA class, please complete the secondary registration at the end of the google form link above.
