The Salamander Stride fundraiser is doing great so far, let's keep going!
Salamander Stride 2024
Salamander Stride 2024

What is the Salamander Stride?

It’s a Fun Run for the whole school and the singular fundraiser for the PTA. The Stride is a non-competitive event that encourages physical activity and aligns with the school’s purpose of educating and celebrating the kids. It is also a great community event for students, teachers, and administrators—and, of course, parents, guardians, and family members who are able to support our students.

How will the Salamander Stride raise money for the PTA?

Students will seek pledges from family, friends, and neighbors to achieve their fitness goal—be it a mile or beyond. Our successful Stride fundraising history has enabled us to eliminate the need for other PTA fundraisers, like selling wrapping paper and cookie dough.

Will all kids participate?

Yes! This is a school-wide event and every student who is able to stride, walk, run or roll in the Salamander Stride is encouraged to participate. We know there may be some children whose families and friends are not able to pledge money for the Salamander Stride, and that’s OK — everyone participates in the way they are able.

Important Note: If you are giving through this website "donate" button and not your student's fundraising page, please add their name and teacher when prompted so they receive the credit for your contribution. Click "check out" to complete the process for making your gift. Thank you for your support!

Sligo Creek Spirit Wear Delivery

News Update: SCES spirit wear has been delivered to your child's classroom! A big thanks to Tracy Reid for leading the charge on this. With a great team of volunteers, all orders were sorted, organized and delivered (with great care) to teachers' classrooms on Tuesday morning!

We cannot promise that your teacher will hand them out immediately, but be on the lookout for your Sligo Swag!

*We have plenty of bags, magnets and some T-shirts still available for purchase on the day of Stride.

Please let Tracy know if you have any questions.

Sligo Creek Welcome Back Social, a great celebration!

A wonderful night was had at the Welcome Back Social on October 4th!

It was so much fun to come together with families and friends to enjoy the beautiful evening on the recess field! Students really enjoyed their time on the bounce houses, playing games and enjoyed a treat from the food truck options. It was a great way to connect with the SCES community!

A huge thank you to Gargi Parikh and Gladys Chi and all our volunteers who made this event possible!

Successful Walk/Roll To School Day!

On October 9th, Sligo Creek participated in the 28th annual Walk & Roll to School Day!

Walk to School Day is an international annual event that promotes physical activity, teaches safe pedestrian skills, reduces traffic congestion near schools, promotes concern for the environment, and shares time as a community together.

Our students had fun walking or biking to school last week and enjoyed a healthy snack and stickers at the car circle to celebrate the day. And our new bike rack arrived just in time for our students to use!

Thank you to Sara Robb and Jennifer Meyer from the Wellness Committee for organizing the event, and to TREK bikes for providing snacks after the walk! If you have questions please email wellness@scespta.org

The One Community meets in November!

The first One Community Sub-committee meeting is starting-up this November!  Please contact Rosarie.tucci@gmail.com if you are interested  to join.  We’ll start by taking a look at the diversity data that the PTA collected last year.

The One Community will strive for more connections amongst the diverse communities at SCES including the Academy, French Immersion, Spanish and Amharic language speakers and more. We look forward to seeing you there!

Volunteers Needed for Lost and Found at SCES!

The PTA is looking for volunteers to help try to return lost belongings to their owners. If you have a little time to donate, please contact Bora Haik at bchu02@gmail.com or Elizabeth Oppenheimer elisabeth.oppenheimer@gmail.com.

Lost and Found NEW Process – Please be sure to look for your kiddos lost items, they are waiting for you in the school cafeteria. They will remain there until October 31.  All items remaining after 10/31 will be donated.
