Our PTA is known for being active and strong. To keep up the tradition of supporting our students and staff in so many ways, we need members to step into some leadership roles.

For the 2022-2023 School Year, we're looking for a new:

Executive Vice President

Treasurer

... and more! 

We have standing committees focused on antiracism, wellness, and staff appreciation. We support the school's room parents. We plan the annual Back to School Party, Salamander Stride, World Culture Day, GeoBowl, Science Fair, put out newsletters, monitor the listserv and Facebook groups, plan appreciation events for our staff, host book fairs, and so much more. 

Please bring your questions, your energy, and your desire to be involved in our students' educational pursuits!

SCES GeoBowl is scheduled for May 17.  

This event is an annual Geography-based quiz competition for 3rd–5th graders. This year’s continent of focus is Europe. The study guide and GeoBowl will be conducted in English-only this year, at an in-person event in May. Class level teams will compete (there's no limit to the number of teams; this will be based on how many students are interested in competing), with a preference for students in the same classroom being placed on the same team. Kids made it clear they want to participate with their friends, and this makes it easier for grown-ups to arrange team study time.

The study guide is being circulated this week through emails from teachers and room parents; teams will be assigned following spring break.

Make lunch and recess volunteering a part of your spring routine! This is a great way to get to know your student's friends and classmates and our staff. If you've been cleared to volunteer, please consider signing up for one or more time slots this week - we have many options:

Encourage your student to stop by Lost & Found this week!  

The largest stash, with three racks and numerous baskets full of items, is in the SCES cafeteria; there is a second stash in the gym. Ms. Newsmith has given us a week's reprieve to clear out the clothing; it will be donated over spring break.

SCES Facebook Group
