World Culture Day Poster Prize Winners

Thank you to all the 4th and 5th grade students who participated in the World Culture Day poster competition. There were 41 posters submitted reflecting the many countries, cultural traditions, foods, landmarks, geographic diversity, family traditions, beliefs, languages, school spirit, and more of our student body that enriches the SCES community. 

There were so many creative entries that we couldn't choose only one winner per grade-our students are SO talented. So, we are thrilled to announce the top 2 winners in each grade. The 4 winning posters will be prominently displayed on Friday for the World Culture Day celebration. All other entries will be displayed around the school beginning today and for the entire week.

The winners are:

4th grade 

Alijah Staley from Ms. Ford's class and Charlotte and Josie who submitted a joint entry, from Mme. Raze's class.

5th grade 

Mai Lan Bui from Mme. Panatier's class and a team of 3, Leila Kittell, Elizabeth Browne, and Hannah Bruk, from Ms. June's class.

Seeking Lunch and Recess Volunteers

Make lunch and recess volunteering a part of your spring routine! This is such a great way to get to know your student's friends and classmates and our staff. If you have been cleared to volunteer, please consider signing up for one or more time slots this week - we have many options:

Also, note that this Thursday is an early release day, so there is no recess and some kids will eat in their classrooms; for that reason, we removed Thursday from the SignUp.

Seeking GeoBowl 2022 Volunteers

Sligo Creek’s 2022 GeoBowl for 3th, 4th and 5th grades is set for Tuesday, May 17!

Thanks for showing up for our staff with your "stock the lounge" goodies. It means SO much to our teachers and support staff that we take the time and effort to share snacks and drinks with them. Lots of opportunities to contribute in the coming weeks!

Seeking PTA Board Member Nominations

We have a number of openings on the SCES PTA board for the 2022-23 School Year, including President, Vice-President, and Treasurer.
