This is a weekly e-newsletter compiled by the SCES PTA to share current and upcoming school events and other information important to our school community. We are so grateful to each of you. Our school community of committed care givers is what makes SCES the special place that it is.

  • Participating in the Salamander Stride (donations remain open through Dec. 31);
  • Thinking creatively about ways to build community among our classes;
  • Moving SCES along the continuum toward being an antiracist school environment;
  • Supporting our teachers and staff (see the Giving Tree link below) and most of all, 
  • Helping your student(s) succeed during this time of virtual learning.

Family Needs Survey

This has been an especially challenging time for many families in our community and around our country.  Please fill out the survey below indicating any items your children need right now.  Your responses will be kept 100% confidential and will go straight to Ms. Hegerich, our School Counselor. 

  

The PTA has funds dedicated specifically for this purpose.  Please let Ms. Hegerich know what would be helpful to your family.

SCES Staff Giving Tree

The Giving Tree is an evolving wish list of 100+ items requested by SCES staff to help them succeed during this season of virtual learning. 

Please take a moment to grant a wish, purchase the item and have it delivered to your teacher as a small way to say “we appreciate you and all that you're doing!” If possible, it's best to coordinate delivery directly with the teacher who requested the wish list item.

Thanksgiving Meal Pick-Up Wednesday, Nov. 25

MCPS will provide meal boxes at all regular food distribution sites on Wednesday, November 25. These boxes will include 4 days' worth of meals, as detailed below. The following link lists all food distribution sites: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/reopening/meals/

Boxes may be heavy, so it is recommended to bring a car, if possible.

Coffee Chat with Administrators - Thursday, Dec. 17

The next Coffee Chat will be held on Thursday, December 17th at 8:15 am.    

A zoom link will be sent closer to the date. 

Can You Help the Staff Appreciation Committee?

We have so many reasons to appreciate SCES staff.

They're doing an amazing job of learning to teach and connect with our students in new ways, and the PTA needs a creative person to lead our efforts to brainstorm and implement new ways to celebrate them.   

Are you able to put a little time into helping us show our SCES Staff the appreciation and support they deserve?
