Next PTA Meeting, February 4th at 7pm in Person & Virtual: Immigration Resources & Hate-Bias
Please join us for the next PTA meeting on Tuesday, February 4th at 7pm. It will take place at SCES in the Media Center. There will also be a zoom link.
We have the privilege of welcoming Dr. Everett Davis to discuss immigration supports and resources and Dr. Anthony Alston to discuss hate-bias.
Dr. Davis serves as Director of Student, Family and School Services (SFSS). In this role, his main responsibilities include family engagement and community partnerships for our MCPS communities. He also supports a team of Parent Community Coordinators (PCCs) who serve as home/school liaisons, helping our families to navigate MCPS, including any barriers to their child’s success. In addition to his professional responsibilities as an educator, Dr. Davis is also a parent of three boys, all MCPS students.
Dr. Alston has served as the Director of the Equity Unit for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) since June 2022. In this role, Dr. Alston spearheads initiatives to promote equity and culturally responsive practices within the school system, aiming to close achievement gaps and foster an inclusive learning environment for all students. Before joining MCPS, Dr. Alston worked with The Leadership Academy as a National Designer and Facilitator. In this capacity, he was instrumental in developing and delivering professional development programs that emphasized equity and culturally responsive teaching.
