The Scholastic Book Fair will be held December 9 - 13 with an evening session on the 10th, from 6-8pm. Check out the Website for all the needed information.  

We are still looking for volunteers, even if you're able to give just an hour of your time - sign up here

Bonjour Books will also have a selection of French books for sale throughout the fair. Please note that “Scholastic Bucks” cannot be used for Bonjour Books purchases, as this is an entirely separate retailer. 

The book fair will accept cash and credit cards.

Reminder to all visitors attending or volunteering for the book fair during school hours, please check-in at the front office before heading to the media center. Thank you!

Our PTA Staff Appreciation Committee is busy planning some holiday cheer for our staff before winter break. The PTA will host a staff lunch catered by Money Muscle BBQ on Wednesday, December 18. 

In addition, Ms. Schwartz will host a holiday bingo game for staff to win prizes. Families can help out in various ways. 

Please consider (1) volunteering to help with the staff lunch, (2) donating a dessert for the staff lunch, or (3) providing a $15-$30 “door prize” gift or gift card for Ms. Schwartz’s game. Contact Ashley Briefel at ashley.ann.briefel@gmail.com if you are interested in getting involved! 

What is the GeoBowl:  The GeoBowl is the SCES geography quiz team competition for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Students will be assigned to grade level teams and they work together to prepare for the competition.  On March 7 the teams will compete together to answer questions in a quiz competition.  It is a great opportunity for students to learn about geography and work as part of a team. 

When is the GeoBowl:  The GeoBowl will be held on March 7.

What information is covered in the GeoBowl:  Participants will receive an Asia study guide. The 2025 GeoBowl will be conducted in both French and English.  French Immersion students will receive a French language study guide and all questions and answers will be in French.

How do I register my student for the GeoBowl:  Please fill out the registration form.  Registration will close on December 31.

Cleaning out your bookshelves? Please donate children’s books to the Book Share! Each June, we give free books to every single SCES student, and we rely on your donations to do so. Please contact Carrie Callaghan at carecalla@gmail.com to arrange for drop-off at her house (near the school). We accept books in English and French for all elementary school ages. No board books, teen books, or books about any religious holidays including Christmas please. Thank you!
