Support Our Students and Families

Students and families in our SCES community need school supplies, groceries and winter weather gear. Can you help?

There are two ways to donate: 

1) Purchase items from our wishlist and we will distribute them to students and families who need them. Make your selections and order the items to be sent to school to the attention of:

Ms. Karen Hegerich, Sligo Creek Elementary School, 500 Schuyler Road, Silver Spring, MD 20910 

Items will be distributed to families on December 21, 2020. Please be sure to purchase through Amazon Smile, with SCES PTA as your recipient charity as well!

2) Make a donation directly to the PTA, and we will use the funds to purchase items to give away. The PTA is a registered 501c3 and donations are tax-deductible. Many corporations will also match donations.

Family Needs Survey

This has been an especially challenging year for many families in our community. Please fill out the survey below indicating any items your children need right now. Your responses will be kept 100% confidential and will go straight to Ms. Hegerich, our School Counselor. 

The PTA has funds dedicated specifically for this purpose. Please let Ms. Hegerich know what would be helpful to your family. This survey will remain open as long as needed.

Seeking 5th Grade Graduation, GeoBowl & World Culture Day Volunteers

Whether we're virtual or hybrid, the next few months will offer some opportunities for celebration and horizon-broadening to SCES students. We need volunteers to head up our:

  • 5th Grade Graduation Committee
  • Geo Bowl 2021, and 
  • World Culture Day. 

We're still looking for someone to lead our Teacher Appreciation Committee's efforts as well.

Joining a committee is a great way to connect with the SCES community and to make a difference for our school.
