SCES classrooms will celebrate Valentine's Day on Feb. 14. We invite students to wear red, pink, purple, or white to show their caring for fellow students and staff at SCES!  Your teacher or room parents will tell you all about classroom parties and any card exchanges that may be in the works.  

We're collecting boxes of Valentine's cards for any students who may need them. If you're able to pick up an extra box of cards for this purpose, please drop them by:

Or 

Brenna Thibault's house at 9423 Thornhill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20901.

We each have a bin located by the front porch/steps for quick and easy drop-offs. Alternately, feel free to ship a few boxes to us if they will arrive by Thursday.  

Our goal is to collect around 50-60 boxes of Valentine's cards by Thursday, Feb. 10, enough for each teacher to receive two packages for students who may need them. So far, we've collected21 boxes. Thanks so much to those who've shared cards. 

Plans are in the works for an in-person World Culture Day (WCD) at SCES on Friday,March 25!

WCD will be held during school hours in the Outdoor Classroom or, in the event of rain, spread out across the school foyer area.

To make WCD a success, we need volunteers to share photos, music, dance, art, language, and other cool things about your country and culture. 

Make your presentation interactive and exciting for an in-person, PowerPoint-free setting! We’ll cover the cost of your materials including poster board, printing, lamination, and so on.

Ms. Nesmith could use some help in the form of a Volunteer Coordinator. We're in the fortunate position of having a long list of potential volunteers for outdoor lunch, bulletin board creation, updating the sign out front, etc....but Ms. Nesmtih and the front office staff could use some help marshaling those resources. If you're interested in taking on this important new volunteer opportunity, please email communications@scespta.org.
