The Outdoor Classroom committee will hold a zoom meeting tonight, January 31, from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm, to discuss spring activities and volunteer opportunities in the Outdoor Classroom. 

The agenda will include the March 5 Work Day, spring lessons for students, the Fundraiser at Ace Hardware Feb. 9-14, and Green School recertification efforts.  

There is a lot going on in the Outdoor Classroom and I hope you can join us. It is always nice to discuss springtime gardening to tide us over during these cold winter months!  If you do plan to join, please let me know and I’ll email you some short background material (this is not at all necessary to join but it will be helpful).

Valentine's Day is coming up, and SCES classrooms will celebrate the love on Feb. 14. We invite students to wear red, pink, purple, or white to show their caring for fellow students and staff at SCES! 

Your teacher or room parents will tell you all about classroom parties and any card exchanges that may be in the works.  

Alexa Spencer, one of our room parent coordinators, is collecting boxes of Valentine's cards for any students who may need them. If you're able to pick up an extra box of cards for this purpose, please drop them by Alexa's house at:

Alexa will have a bin on her front porch for quick and easy drop-offs. Alternately, feel free to ship a few boxes to her door.  

Our goal is to collect around 50-60 boxes of Valentine's cards by Thursday, Feb. 10, enough for each teacher to receive two packages for students who may need them. 

With Monday, Feb. 14 being a special day to celebrate the love we have for our SCES staff, please consider picking up a bag of chocolates or other Valentine's treat to share with our hard-working teachers, paraeducators, building maintenance, and administrative staff. Small gestures of kindness go a long way.

Parent Survey to Assist SCES in Reaching All Families  

Additionally, there is a super-short survey in the newsletter asking for your name and your students' names at SCES. The school is attempting to gather data to find out which families are receiving (and possibly, not receiving) schoolwide communications. If you can take the less than two minutes to fill this out, it will help!
