... and reading to keep up those valuable skills students worked on all year, so that they are ready for the next grade.

To encourage students to keep reading throughout the summer, SCES is promoting a Summer Reading Bingo board and Reading Log!

You can find copies in French and English on the SCES website, as well as right here. Students who turn in their completed Bingo board will get a reading ribbon and certificate in the fall.

5th Grade Celebration June 11, 4-6 PM

On Friday, June 11, from 4-6 PM, all 5th graders are invited to celebrate the end of the school year and to pick up their memory books at SCES. Masks will be required for both kids and adults.

Toastmasters, amateur DJs, all who embrace the microphone: we could use an MC for the evening! If interested email Kelly at kvaena@gmail.com.

If your child’s dismissal routine will change for Friday, please write your teacher and the attendance secretary to let her know (Robyn_N_Saunders@mcpsmd.org).

RSVP by Wednesday via the link below so that we can ensure plenty of pizza, treats, and water. A group of parents is planning a Clap Out starting around 4:45 PM, so please be on the playground by then if your student would like to participate.

End-of-Year Gifts to Staff

As the school year comes to a close, the PTA is suggesting a different approach to this year's end-of-year class gifts.

Please consider using the link below to contribute to a collective SCES staff giftthe refurbishment of the staff lounge for the 2021-2022 school year.

https://scespta.membershiptoolkit.com/form/m/142444

As of Monday, June 7, we've raised $3,695 toward the staff lounge refresh and plan to also give each staff member a $25 gift card. We hope to make class gifts more equal across SCES between FI, Academy, and other staff who work so hard all year long.

Thank you for showing your support and appreciation!

Are you an interior designer, decorator, organizer, or stager (aspiring or pro)?

Would you be willing to take a look at the staff lounge and give us a few tips for making the space more welcoming?

Please contact Rick at president@scespta.org or Brenna at communications@scespta.org.
