We'll look at the issue through the lens of the linked articles below, as well as create space to share observations and opportunities for more equitable instruction at SCES.

Spring Break Travel

Please review this update from MCPS regarding travel, which was released on Friday, March 12, 2021: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/publicinfo/community/school-year-2020-2021/Community-Update-20210312.html

Excerpt:

MCPS is strongly encouraging families and staff not to travel outside of Maryland and neighboring states at this time. If students or employees travel, they are strongly encouraged to take a COVID-19 test within 72 hours of returning and should consider self-quarantining while awaiting results. We understand that many staff and families have already made plans to travel out of state during spring break. However, to help reduce the potential spread of COVID-19 in schools once people return from spring break, Tuesday, April 6 will be a virtual learning day for ALL students. Wednesday, April 7 will remain a virtual day as scheduled. Students scheduled to return on April 6 (Group 1.2) will return to buildings on Thursday, April 8.

We need YOU to make this Spring Special!
  • The GeoBowl planning committee hopes to hold this popular annual event in 2021. Email events@scespta.org to support planning and preparation for the GeoBowl.
  • World Culture Day is in the early stages of planning. We have a committee leader and are looking for additional volunteers to help make an event happen this spring. It would be a Zoom-based assembly. Email events@scespta.org if you’re able to help.
  • SCES PTA seeks a Teacher Appreciation Committee chair. Contact communications@scespta.org if interested.
