Support Our Students and Families

SCES community, you are AMAZING. 

Your donations covered our school's winter coat drive for those families needing coats as the temperature drops. There are some hats, gloves and scarves remaining on the Amazon wish list, along with a few school supplies. 

Our greatest need now is grocery gift cards. 

To donate: 

1) Purchase a grocery gift card or VISA card from Safeway or Giant, or from our school's Amazon wish list. Make your selections and order the items to be sent to school to the attention of:  

Ms. Karen Hegerich, Sligo Creek Elementary School, 500 Schuyler Road, Silver Spring, MD 20910 

Items will be distributed to families on December 21, 2020. Please be sure to purchase through Amazon Smile, with SCES PTA as your recipient charity as well!

2) Make a donation directly to the PTA, and we will use the funds to purchase items to give away. The PTA is a registered 501c3 and donations are tax-deductible. Many corporations will also match donations.

Seeking 5th Grade Graduation, GeoBowl & World Culture Day Volunteers

The PTA Board will begin planning next semester's events later this week. Please contact Jennifer (events@scespta.org) or Brenna (communications@scespta.org) if interested in helping with:  

  • 5th Grade Graduation Committee
  • Geo Bowl 2021, and 
  • World Culture Day.   

We're still looking for someone to lead our Teacher Appreciation Committee's efforts as well.  

Joining a committee is a great way to connect with the SCES community and to make a difference for our school.

SCES Book Checkout

Check out up to three books from our school’s library collection and pick them up at the SCES car circle on Wednesday afternoons from 1-3 PM! 

Books will be checked out for two weeks and should be returned before additional books are checked out. Please return books from last school year, if possible (however, students will not be penalized for those books). 

Students can place a hold on books for pick-up until 6 PM on the Monday before the Wednesday pick-up. After that time, holds will be processed for the following week.
